I have so wanted an old Steamer Trunk for ages, I had visions of using it as a "coffee" table, filling it with fluffy warm blankets & my crochet stash....magazines, ok really just to hide my daily clutter, but that description made it all sound so lovely didn't it!?? ANYWAY, as I mentioned a couple weeks ago I did find one, a steal of a deal...but hadn't thought through the size of it....I thought for sure that I would find the perfect spot for it!! That my love for this thing would some how make it work! This is when I should have listened to my hubby! Whenever we are out antiquing together and I see something (usually medium to large in size) he always asks "where do you plan to put that"? I have to admit I sometimes get irritated, and roll my eyes, ok I always roll my eyes..but it can be a valid question. I think sometimes you can buy something with no real plan and make it work.
But in the case of larger items, or add shaped things that are hard to store, it is a fair question. But Tom wasn't with me & he trusted me to use my best judgement. I let my love of the idea of having this thing, take over my common sense of making it work in our home!
So I have learned a lesson, 1st and most important, listen to Tom when he asks the questions that make my eyes roll.... make sure you measure the area you plan to fill & then measure the item you are purchasing, so you don't waste time, $$, and energy dragging the thing around the house trying to make it work.
I think a sale of one very large, but beautiful Steamer Trunk is in my future....any takers!??
K~
Have you been to "Others Treasures" in town? It's in the old King's Furniture building on E and Ocean (off of Ocean). There are different little booths or stalls (whatever) w/individual sellers. Great to find things, but maybe also to see some things?
