Go Ahead.....make fun....!

I recently was having a conversation with a lady, and mentioned the word "Thrift Store", and she did one of those silent.....faceless.... inner cringes! Now I don't think she meant any insult to me, and I realize that it isn't every persons cup of tea ! You have to be willing to put up with a few things when shopping at thrift stores. For one they usually smell funny, generally speaking there is at least one "crazy" person in every thrift store ( I am a people watcher....it used to drive my mom crazy! We would be shopping for something and she would be showing me different shirts...pants....dresses whatever we were looking for, and I would usually be watching everyone around us!!!) SO I notice some of the folks in the store! You have to be patient, often times I leave empty handed. You have to be willing to wade through ton's of junk, I find this to really be true with the clothing. I have found some very nice, name brand clothing that at first glance looks great, only to find on further inspection that there is a grease stain or burn mark on the item.
so I can see why some people would turn their noses up at such a venture! I on the other hand love the hunt. Love to find something of value!
To date here are somethings I have found that are of value! I paid less than $10 for any one of these items!

My best deal yet is a Ann Taylor 100% silk dress......fully lined classic cut!!! I kick myself because there were 2 of these dresses (2 different colors) I only had enough cash for 1 and didn't think to ask  them to hold it while I ran to the bank!
I actually have 2 or 3 more Ann Taylor items, carpi's and a 100% wool sweater.
Charlotte Ruse top,
J Jill Sweater
3 or 4 casual sweaters, some vintage, all 100% wool
That is just to name a few!
everyone of them still quite in style!!
So go ahead and make fun!!! But just jump over to any one of those designers web sites and look at their prices.....then just know that someone bought their stuff...wore it a couple times.....then donated it to Goodwill or some other thrift store....and it is now sitting on the rack just waiting for you!!!!
That's what keeps me lovin the hunt!

  1. I love that! How exciting! Dont beat yourself up too bad. You left the second dress for someone else to find and love. It always feels like a treasure hunt that God set up for me:) We have "found" some of the most amazing things and so many things that no one but us would appreciate or fit into. It is amazing!! Most things that we own are from thrif stores, yard sales, Craigslist, and the occasional gift.
